Lifecycle Production Optimisation
Practical nodal analysis, flow-model tuning, and systematic debottlenecking to squeeze extra barrels from start-up through late-life decline.
Founded in 2021, MCGx is a Perth-based wells consultancy built on a simple principle: engineering excellence creates lasting value.
We specialise in production optimisation and well integrity, helping operators extract more value from today’s wells while ensuring regulator-ready closure tomorrow.
MCGx brings operator-side experience to every engagement. Our team has run the wells, faced the regulators, and delivered results across Australia’s most technically demanding assets for clients including Woodside, Shell, Chevron, ExxonMobil, and Santos.
Independent, data-driven, and deeply technical, we provide the engineering clarity that underpins high-consequence operational and regulatory decisions, from first gas to final plug.
When you work with MCGx, you work directly with a deliberately small group of engineers held to exceptionally high technical standards. No layers, no delays; just world-class expertise applied where it matters most.
Our work has generated hundreds of millions of dollars in production gains and cost savings, achieved through production optimisation and risk-based integrity. We deliver measurable improvements rather than theoretical studies.
We’ve been in your shoes. MCGx was built by engineers who’ve operated assets, faced regulators, and delivered outcomes under real-world constraints. We bridge engineering rigour with commercial awareness, ensuring your decisions stand up technically and financially. Our advice comes from operational experience, earned in the field.
We have no vendor ties or commercial dependencies. Every recommendation we make is objective, defensible, and focused solely on what’s best for your asset’s performance, integrity, and value.
We build integrity from the ground up, ensuring barrier assurance, traceability, and documentation that stand up to regulator inspection, without sacrificing operational performance.
MCGx was founded by Dusan Matejic, a Production Engineer who believes that engineering excellence is the foundation of sound decision-making and meaningful business outcomes.
With over a decade of experience across Shell, ExxonMobil, BP, Chevron, Woodside, and Santos, Dusan has delivered production optimisation, well integrity, and decommissioning outcomes across Australia’s most demanding assets, from high-rate offshore gas producers to late-life wells approaching abandonment.
“I built MCGx on a simple belief: when you hold yourself to the highest engineering standards, better business outcomes naturally follow.” That mindset defines MCGx today, a consultancy built by engineers who value substance over spin, and results that hold up under the toughest operational and regulatory scrutiny.
Every recommendation we make is grounded in field-proven methods, data-backed analysis, and an uncompromising standard of precision that reflects how we’ve operated wells ourselves.
We strip away bias, noise, and guesswork. Each problem is modelled from first principles, whether through transient flow diagnostics, barrier envelope mapping, or risk-based integrity evaluation. The result: clarity where uncertainty once lived.
We blend advanced analytics and engineering intuition to extract meaning from complex datasets, turning routine well tests, SCSSV trends, and annulus pressures into actionable optimisation pathways. Every insight is engineered for measurable value.
Our approach is shaped by the realities of running high-rate gas fields, managing integrity campaigns, and facing audits under regulatory scrutiny. We design solutions that work in practice, proven on live assets.
We treat clarity in engineering as commercial leverage, not a compliance exercise. Every engagement has a clear objective, whether that’s reducing testing costs by millions, extending production life, or delivering a smoother path to abandonment.
MCGx is an active member of Australia’s leading energy industry bodies, including Australian Energy Producers and the Centre of Decommissioning Australia (CODA).
These memberships ensure we remain closely connected to regulatory developments, industry priorities, and best practice across the full asset lifecycle.
