Well Integrity

Engineering assurance for wells that must perform and endure

Well integrity issues rarely appear suddenly. They develop quietly — through degraded barriers, misunderstood test results, or assumptions that go unchallenged — until they surface as production deferment, regulatory scrutiny, or safety risk.

Well integrity is not a compliance exercise. It is a continuous engineering discipline spanning the full lifecycle of a well, requiring sound judgment about how barriers actually behave under real operating conditions. Managing integrity well means distinguishing genuine risk from noise and responding proportionately.

MCGx provides independent well integrity engineering trusted in high-consequence environments, where decisions must withstand operational, commercial, and regulatory scrutiny.

Robust Well Integrity

Robust well integrity is not defined by documentation volume or testing frequency. It is defined by whether barriers perform their intended function, and whether that performance can be demonstrated with confidence.

Integrity issues commonly arise from four persistent gaps: barriers that exist on paper but are poorly verified, acceptance criteria that generate false alarms or mask degradation, annulus pressure behaviour that is observed but not interpreted, and integrity knowledge that is lost across lifecycle phases. MCGx focuses on closing these gaps, replacing assumption with evidence and uncertainty with engineering clarity.

Our Approach

We treat well integrity as a risk-based engineering problem, not a procedural one. Our focus is on enabling sound decisions under uncertainty, particularly where incomplete information, competing risks, and high consequences intersect.

We emphasise barrier realism and meaningful verification, assessing whether barriers perform their intended function in practice. Integrity signals are interpreted in context, ensuring responses are proportionate, technically justified, and defensible over time.

Testing and surveillance are designed to be fit-for-purpose, aligned with actual risk, and optimised to deliver useful information rather than activity for its own sake. Throughout, we ensure integrity requirements are technically sound, implementable in practice, and robust under operational and regulatory scrutiny.
