100+ Operators, US$4B at Stake

Result

MCGx developed a bespoke Well Integrity training program for operators supporting a US$4 billion offshore gas development incorporating the world’s first subsea compression system. The course converted complex engineering and integrity requirements into an operator-level framework, enabling confident decision-making across 100+ operators and reducing integrity risk in an uncharted operating regime.

Problem

Subsea compression fundamentally changes well behaviour: higher velocities, sharper pressure transients, and new stress on barriers and safety systems. Operators faced unfamiliar conditions with no historical precedent to interpret signals or understand integrity consequences. Existing documentation was extensive but fragmented, written for engineers rather than operators, offering no integrated narrative explaining how compression alters cause-and-effect at the well.

MCGx Insight

In world-first operating environments, integrity risk is governed by operator understanding, not just system design. MCGx synthesised hundreds of design, integrity, and operating documents into a single, technically accurate training narrative focused on what operators see, why it matters, and how actions propagate across the well–subsea–compression system.

Proof

The end-to-end training course covered integrity fundamentals, asset-specific well design, subsea compression impacts, and operator decision-making. It was adopted as the operator’s primary Well Integrity training and remains the standard today.
